Description

Being able to print your own fabric sounds amazing in theory. Until you start asking the questions, what do I print, how do I get the artwork – can I do it myself, can I browse, can someone design it for me. Read below for some suggestions on getting closer to having the ultimate control of your craft.

What can you print?

UYID accepts both raster and vector artwork. Submit your design in png, jpeg, tiff, pdf, or eps. For graphic designers, we print using sRGB 2.1 and FOGRA39 colour space. For corporate jobs where you have a specific colour, we can work with you with spot channels. We work with Adobe Software but prefer not to receive psd or ai files please. Please be mindful that depending on the screen you are viewing from, some images may not show Exactly to how you see. This may skew up or down in colour due to whether it is in our colour gamat. Please message us for further information if clarification is needed

Where can you get your artwork.

UYID has a library of obtained patterns, but if you want more. You can source stock on www.patternbank.com www.shutterstock.com www.depositphotos.com www.envato.com www.istockphoto.com www.etsy.com

If you want to get in contact with a designer, try www.fiverr.com to get in touch with freelance designers all over the world

If you want to design yourself, that is okay to. Some software suggestions are Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw

If you do your own designs, just make sure your colour space is sRGB or FOGRA39 for CMYK with a resolution of 300ppi.

Please ensure these are SEAMLESS patterns. We will look over files but will not be responsible for non seamless files if they make the print run without realising.

What is print size, and how do you print across the fabric?

When we mention print size. We are talking about the size of 1 tile of the pattern. Generally, our customers will use a reference of an image contained in the artwork and say they want it to come out at say 2 inches. This is perfectly acceptable instruction and we will confirm the artwork prior to printing. Alot of designers use a 12inch square which contains 2 repeats. Our software then reads that image and repeats it to the X and Y that we specify.

In our presets we offer multiple re scaling options. This is referencing the size of the largest image inside that pattern. for instance 7-10cm ( we try to scale the largest image around 8cm, so that any coordinating design in that area will still stay within the 7-10cm area. There is a custom size option available for a $3 charge which gives you the ability to specify your size and reference, and we will verify and action.

How do I print multiple files?

If this is your first bulk order, upon completion of your first purchase you can download the order form on this ad. The spreadsheet will provide a link to a page where each page looks fairly similar for each base. Very important this information gets filled out correctly, but in this we need you to specify the exact name of the file, print size (actually handy if you can rename the file with the size in it but not necessary), how many prints, how long is each print (50cm, 100cm etc). The more accurate this information is, the faster it hits the printer. It contains a calculator which will keep count of how much you have entered.

What happens to my files once printed ?

UYID like to take pride in their word that any files provided to us are then archived and not reprinted or distributed elsewhere. We have a strict layout for where the patterns are stored etc. Why are they stored ? They are stored merely for the sake if you were to order this exact file again with the same sizing etc. We would hate for you to receive the same file resized two different ways due to a slight human error. Once your order is completed. Your order + Files are all archived and not to be seen again until future orders. – UYID will only print a file that you may have ONLY if it is in their already database, or if it is purchased directly from the same designer.
